The Bug-Out Bag Pack- (1) one pound bag Maya Sticks Fire Starting Tinder + (2) Small Minuteman Fire Starters

Minuteman Provision Company

$ 29.95

The Bug-Out Bag pack is the perfect fire starting kit to pack in a bug-out bag or vehicle bag (you save 22% off our regular price too!)

The one pound bag of premium, Central American fat wood contains enough Maya Sticks to light hundreds of fires if used sparingly. Use the edge of your knife and scrape the sticks to make Maya dust. The fluffy Maya dust will catch the shower of sparks emitted by Minuteman Fire Starters and catch fire... . Maya Sticks have approximately 80% resin content and burn like crazy.  Slivers cut from Maya Sticks make the perfect secondary tinder. Add the slivers to burning Maya dust and continue to add small kindling until you have a healthy fire.  The high temperatures achieved while burning fatwood help dry out wet wood and make starting a fire much easier, especially in wet weather.

Making and using a feather stick from Maya Fatwood is a very easy way to light Your Minuteman Rocket Stove or camp fire. Take a knife and start about 1" from the end of the stick. Cut into the Maya Stick as if you were going to cut slivers but stop before the slivers detach. Rotate the stick and make these cuts in a ring around the Maya Stick. Move up the stick 1/2" and make another row of cuts. Repeat making feathers for about 5-8 rows. It is possible to light a freshly cut feather stick directly with a Minuteman Fire Starter. To make lighting easier, add a little Maya dust to the feathers. After lighting the feather stick, place the burning end down into The burn box of your stove.  Make sure the flame is flowing up the chimney of the Minuteman. Prior to lighting your stove you should loosely pack the chimney area with the best kindling you can find.  Add sticks slowly to the burn box as your stove begins to heat up. If your kindling is wet, mix slivers of Maya fatwood into the kindling before use

The (2) Minuteman Fire Staters included in this pack each contain 8-10,000 strikes and are super sparky. They have 4" rods that are long enough to be very easy to strike. The hardwood handles are very comfortable and easy to hold. These awesome strikers make a shower of sparks. You'll be glad you have them, especially in wet weather.
